ABOUT OUR COMPANY

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Nature’s Wing Fin Design developed the first major breakthrough in next-generation swim fin technology and we have been innovating in swim fin design and the scuba world for nearly a decade. In the late ‘90s, Nature’s Wing® secured patents for Split-Fin™ technology and immediately began licensing to our manufacturing partners. To date we’ve worked with virtually every major scuba company to produce Split-Fins™ for every diver, condition and budget.

Split FinsNOT YOUR GRANDFATHER'S PADDLE FIN

The modern paddle fin, as we know it, was developed and produced for commercial sale in the 1930’s. Other than advances in materials and the introduction of vented fins in the ‘60’s, paddle fins remain virtually unchanged.

These inefficient paddle fins require a demanding kick with more knee-bend, taxing the big leg muscles. That's why paddle fins strain your ankles, Achilles tendon, calf muscles and cause cramping in your leg muscles and feet.

Split FinsTHE NATURAL WAY TO DIVE

Nature’s Wing® developed revolutionary Split-Fin™ technology based on the tail shapes and motions of natural swimmers like dolphins and whales. Rather than a traditional ducks-foot paddle shape, Split-Fins™ are (not surprisingly) split into two aerodynamic V-shaped wings. When kicking, the split blade deflects to form a pair of blades that slice through the water and propel you forward.

Compared to paddle fins, Split-Fins™ swim with less effort and strain resulting in greater sustained speed, power and comfort. Wearing Split-Fins you kick from your hips, with only a little knee-bend, so you kick with less effort and in a smaller range, which further decreases drag.

SAVE YOUR BREATH

Split FinsSplit-Fins allow a diver to swim faster than he would with conventional fins and, using an underwater speedometer (also developed at Nature’s Wing®), we’ve clocked divers going about 30 percent faster with Split-Fins™. Although higher underwater speed can be thrilling - a more meaningful measurement for scuba divers is the consumption of oxygen. Testing by Nature’s Wing® showed that swimming with Split-Fins™ reduced divers' air consumption and found Split-Fins™ up to 40 percent more efficient than conventional fins. Divers wearing Split-Fins™ just perform a small flutter kick rather than the big bent-knee kick that is required with paddle fins. Test divers using Split-Fins™ described substantially less fatigue and next day soreness than with older style fins. Most significantly our test divers reported a dramatic reduction in air consumption, which translated directly to increased bottom time.

The world leader in fin design, Nature’s Wing® has garnered more industry awards for Split-Fin™ technology than any other fin design company. Nature’s Wing® continues to innovate and develop new versions of our Split-Fins™.
